When Amelia continued her mission with Mordin, there were many things discussed on their way to finding his assistant. Mordin had seen the death and destruction that the genophage had caused, in his own eyes. Amelia of course accused him of slowly killing the krogan race with the genophage.
"NOT kill! Modify", Mordin kept insisting. But at least he was finally seeing and admitting the deaths that had resulted in his little experiment in order to save millions of live at stake if the krogan were to overpopulate again.
Still, many lives had died in the process no matter how it was done. If there ever were an enormous threat to the galaxy again, who would fight so ambitiously without question? Only the krogan. But now there are only so many who may even be born to fight it off.
Amelia was shocked to see that Mordin nearly killed his assistant, especially since he was on the other side of ideas. But to go that far was unacceptable. She immediately stopped him, reminding him he's not a murderer.
With Amelia's history of the krogan race and how their lives are at stake regardless of their approach towards society, she begged the doctor nearly with crying eyes to keep the cure. Her secret may have been revealed by now, but she still tried to keep her emotions under control.
When they arrived back on the ship, Mordin was fine. He had gotten over all the emotion the two had between each other on the mission while handling it.
She was happy to see him back to work and behaving like himself. Truly relieved and considering him even more of a great friend now, she left him to work.
Remembering the current krogan on her ship, she went to check on Grunt. She couldn't stay mad at him anymore. She wanted to protect him now. She knew how much he would mean to his people, and maybe to herself if she let him be who he is.
When she checked on him, something seemed wrong. He was confused. He couldn't explain what he was feeling. Amelia was curious but she tried to reassure him.
"Baby, I'm sure you're fine," she said in a calm voice.
"Hah," Grunt said. "I don't need your sweet talk to calm me down. Just tell me what's wrong!"
"You're probably still adjusting. Being tank-born in a fully grown body isn't normal... but I know just what to do. I'm taking you back to Tuchanka..."
Within moments they were back on there like they never left.
Wrex was happy to see her back so soon. They discussed Grunt's Rite of Passage and it was truly satisfying for Grunt's urges to hunt and kill.
Amelia was thrilled to hear that Grunt called her his battle master. She was proud. Wrex was proud of her too, taking down a Thresher Maw like that.
"I'll give you a treat for that, " Wrex said.
As they were about to leave, Amelia stared at Wrex as he looked back at her.
There was a sudden feeling in their hearts, like they may not see each other again after this.
Grunt and Garrus were ready to leave.
"Wait," Amelia said.
"Yes, commander?" Garrus asked.
"What is it now? Let's go!" Grunt said, getting impatient already.
Amelia paused. She approached Wrex. "Meet me back on the ship," she said to them. "I'll be back later."
"If you say so, commander..." Garrus said. "We'll be waiting."
"Don't take too long," Grunt said. He paused. "What're you gonna be doing?"
"Mind your business, boy," Wrex said. "I need some time, too."
"Whatever," Grunt said.
The two left Wrex and Amelia alone.
Wrex got up. "Come on, in the back where we usually used to be..."
Moments later they were alone in a dusty, dark room. It was sunset. The sun barely peeked through the dry mist in the air. Amelia laid down on a rough-surfaced bed.
"Wrex..." she whispered. "This may be it... really."
Wrex came over to the bed and laid over her body, looming on top of her.
"I know, Amelia..." His red eyes started deeply into hers. "Let's make our last time our best..."
Amelia kissed him. "I know our lives are going to be quite different for each other now... you rule your clan, you will need your females to breed with..."
"That doesn't mean I don't love you," Wrex said. "We just have to adapt to the way things are going to be, for the better," He kissed her forehead. "You got some good men behind your back." He paused. "At least Garrus will protect you. And I don't have to tell him that..."
They held each other tightly.
"I will always love you, Wrex," Amelia said. "and I wish you the best for your life, your family, your future as clan leader... everything."
"You know where to find me if you miss me, Amelia," Wrex said. "But you know we can't make promises anymore. So even if you return someday, don't expect things to always be the same."
Amelia held back a tear as they laid down together, Wrex holding onto her.
Their last time together, for now or forever, still felt like their very first in the end.
Amelia and Wrex saying goodbye... for now, for good. :depressed:

More coming, but don't let the end of their relationship kill you! :(
